TOUR DETAILS
Newfoundland is an excellent place to get outside! From May to October, you'll love what we "get at" on the Rock.
All tours begin and end in the capital city of St. John’s. Below is a sample itinerary.
Day 1 - Wednesday:
Arrive in St. John’s. Check in at our downtown hotel, overlooking Signal Hill and St. John’s Harbour. With private spaces this Four+ star hotel will be our hotel for the entire trip. We'll then take a visit to The Rooms, the stunning provincial cultural institution overlooking St. John’s and showcasing the history, art and culture of Newfoundland and Labrador. A visit here is a great introduction to this special part of Canada.
We’ll have our welcome dinner this evening at one of St. John's top restaurants.
Day 2 - Thursday:
We'll spend the morning on a guided tour, including the history and stories at Cape Spear (the easternmost point of North America), where we will be among the first to greet the day. Other stops include the fishing village of Petty Harbour, Quidi Vidi Village, Signal Hill and Cabot Tower (the place where Marconi received the first Transatlantic wireless message in 1901) and other great spots. We'll then have lunch and spend the afternoon exploring St. John's, before our second dinner at another of St. John's top restaurants
Day 3 - Friday:
An early rise takes us one hour west to Chance Cove for an ocean side easy hike; we'll head to the community of Dildo (yes that's what it's called) for lunch at the Dildo Brewing Company; and make stops in the oldest communities in Newfoundland in Brigus and Cupid’s on the way back to St. John’s; Tonight is a free evening for dinner and the fun and legendary music scene on George Street.
Day 4 - Saturday:
This morning we'll hike up Signal Hill and around the North Head portion of the East Coast Trail for more fresh air.
It's then free time for lunch and free afternoon downtown; take a nap or visit Brewdock (showcasing all craft beer from around Newfoundland) or another pub. Perhaps a round of golf at Bally Haly. A trip on the water to jig for cod (in season). A walk downtown, stopping at art galleries showcasing local artists such as Jean-Claude Roy whose work has earned praise around the .
Early this evening, we’ll meet for a drink, some local music and your “Screeching In.” You can’t leave St. John’s without becoming an honorary Newfoundlander. We’ll then head off to our final exceptional dinner.
Day 5 - Sunday:
This is a leisurely morning, with breakfast and checkout before heading to the airport. Depending on your flight time, it is also the chance to take a walk and finish off some last minute shopping.
